Joining Blended as a Coach
As many of you know, I recently moved to the east coast from Ontario. It wasn’t a very planned move, with the entire time from decision to execution taking less than a month. My partner had an opportunity to work as an osteopath at a new clinic being opened by a teacher from her school, and I was moving with the prospects of continuing with some online training clients (due to covid) as well as looking for work either at a gym or trying to start my own freelance training.
I wasn’t worried about the lack of work per say, but something that was bumming me out was that I wasn’t going to have a gym that I could call home and a gym community that I could be a part of.
Enter Blended.
About a month after we arrived, a friend sent me a job posting on Instagram for a coaching position that was open at a place called Blended Athletics. I checked out the website and was immediately interested. The high-quality facility, the attention to detail, the interesting staff and environment, all of it got my attention.
I got in touch with Jason later that day.
After a great conversation, he invited me to come in and check the place out for a week or two. He wanted to make sure that I felt like Blended was somewhere I could fit in, and a place I wanted to be. Immediately upon coming in and meeting everyone, I knew that this was the place for me.
Here I was, just someone coming in for a trial, and everyone greeted me by name the first time I came in, taking immediate interest in my workouts, and just me in general.
This is what I had been missing.
I felt immediately welcomed and comfortable in the space, and by my second visit, I had told Jason that I wanted to be at Blended.
Fast forward almost 6 months and I can say that Blended has been absolutely crucial in my time settling into the east coast and finding my happiness here. The culture, the community-oriented mindset, the staff (and members!) who I can now call friends have all contributed to my happiness and my gratefulness in our decision to move out here.
Never have I been part of a staff team that continuously pushes each other to get better, and who live the Blended motto “Pursuing Excellence”. This mentality can’t help but trickle down to all the members and it makes our community the most amazing thing to be a part of.
Since becoming part of the team at Blended I have been able to really break out of my introverted shell. Every time I step in the building, I can’t help but get caught up in the energy of interacting with all the staff and members on a daily basis. I feel like these changes have only benefited me, and I am excited to see how I can keep growing with Blended in the future.
